Abstract
Over-indebtedness can lead to labour exploitation. In this study on Bangladesh, three sectors are examined: agricultural sector in Sirajganj District, and the sex workers and handloom-weaving sector in Tangail District. Unequal access to and control over resources and an unequal power balance within communities cause poor people to offer their services under exploitative conditions.
